The internet of today is almost unrecognisable from its most earliest incarnations. Gone are the half an hour loading times for a page, gone are the graunching, crazy sounding 56k modems and gone are the disfunctional, odd looking websites that consumed as little bandwidth as possible. The real innovation in recent years was probably the advent of broadband, and the so dubbed Web 2.0 that came out of this. This increase in broadband speeds opened up whole new ways of communicating and viewing information. In short, the change up to broadband meant that whilst the internet used to be an amusing distraction it is now an absolutely essential part of most people`s work and social lives. Motorola has put together another excellent mobile phone with the new 3G Moto Z9. It’s a beautiful phone with tons of great features, that performs as good as all the competition does in most areas. It’s not exactly the most unique phone, some might even say that beneath the surface, it’s the same as the Motorola RAZR2 V9.
The Z9 has a bright 2.4 inch 320×240screen, that displays 262k colors of excellent video quality. It’s not the biggest screen on the market, but it’s great for most mobile phone needs. Sliding the screen up reveals the hidden keyboard, always a great feature, so text messaging and sending emails is a breeze with the Z9. Read the rest of this entry »
I bought a new Motorola V750 Adventure mobile phone as part of my Verizon new every 2 plan. When I searched the internet for help with downloading my own ringtones on the phone I found that many blogs reported that Verizon prevented users from installing their ringtones. I tried the P2K Commander method, but gave up when I couldn’t get past just viewing the folder names on the phone. It turns out that there is a simple method to send yourself ringtone files (mp3) using a microSD memory card. This method will cost you a pix message for each ringtone sent, so hopefully you have a texting/messaging package that permits you a number of messages per month. I just bought this phone in January 2009 and verified that the firmware is the latest version.
The following is a summary of the steps required to save your mp3 ringtone files as ringtones on your Verizon Motorola V750 Adventure:
The process is actually quite simple. It does require use of a microSD memory card, so make sure you have one on hand as well as a computer with the capability of interfacing with the memory card (requires an adapter).
Items you will need:
· microSD memory card. If you don’t have one, go to your nearest Walmart, Target or drug store and buy one. They are very reasonable at under $20. Most come with an SD adapter which you will need to interface with your computer.
· A computer capable of interfacing with the microSD card (via a SD card slot or some external memory card reader)
The Process:
· If you are using a brand new microSD card right out of the package then you must first format it for your V750 . Remove the back cover of the V750 and insert the memory card. Choose MENU->Setting & Tools->Memory->Card Memory->Format Card. Formatting takes just a few seconds. When format is complete you can remove the card from the V750.
( continued below )
· Place the memory card in the adapter and connect it to your computer.
· Copy the desired mp3 files from your computer and place them in the My Sounds folder on the memory card
· Safely remove the memory card from the computer and insert it into the memory card slot on the back of the V750 (requires removal of back cover).
· On the V750 navigate to MENU->Media Center->Music & Tones->My Sounds. Highlight one of the desired sound files and press the right soft key (Options).
· Highlight and select Send
· Highlight and select New Picture Message
· Type your own cell phone number in the To: field
· Send the message
· When you receive the message, open it and press the right soft key (Options) and then highlight and select Save Sound option.
· Type in a new name for the file if you don’t like the given name, then press the right soft key (Set As). Highlight and select Set As Ringtone.
